microsoft ad already forgotten?

Has anybody heard anything new or something else from the microsoft ad. I'm living in the netherlands, but I get the idea that those commercials didn't had a really big impact/weren't really effective. Am I correct?

The Gates/Seinfeld ones.

They were pretty well ridiculed on the internet and elsewhere to the point they pulled the ads. They sucked, imo.

What was that about a nail being hit on the head or something?

I had to search to find them. Definitely not worth $10M they paid; They were obfuscatory and inperspicacious. I don't think many people understood it, really..
