Error during panther installation

Panther keeps stopping at 98% of installation during 'system base part 2'

I checked the log and it says that there is an invalid header?

I have tried two lots of panther, mine and a friends so im thinking there is an error with my system.

Any clues/thoughts?
 
are you doing an upgrade? maybe try runing a fix permisions before doing the install.

if it still persists, you might just wanna go clean install, back up your data then wipe the drive
 
How would I go about a fix permissions?

plus I am doing a clean wipe, my HD is clear because of all the times I have tried to install panther under different settings/circumstances.
