photoshop crop issue...

I am having this problem when I use the crop tool in photoshop. I select the area I want to crop, hit enter and I am left with a teeny tiny unrecognizable square. Do I need to adjust a setting? I am frustrated.
 
Sounds like you have your crop settings set to crop to a certain size/resolution....

Select the crop tool and in the toolbar make sure your values are blank...
