I'm sure Apple would not like it, but I wonder if they would be pressured to do so.

Isn't having a browser monopoly what MS got in trouble for a while back?
 
Couple problems with that...

3.3.2 An Application may not itself install or launch other executable code by any means, including without limitation the use of a plug-in architecture, calling other frameworks, other APIs or otherwise. No interpreted code may be downloaded and used in an Application except for code that is interpeted and run by Apple's Published APIs and built-in interpreter(s).

Also since it duplicates functionality of Safari, I wonder if Apple would allow it. (Google 'Podcaster'.)
 
What's even worse is that there is a VERY SLIM chance it will even be available for jailbroken phones. I think Apple would shut that down in a heartbeat. 🙁

:apple: AFAWK can not touch jailbrake apps. with out some coding in the next firmware release?

I think :apple: is a little leary to pull such a stunt after the 1.1.1 backlash 🙄
 
It won't happen. I'm pretty sure third party browsers are forbidden. They could go underground and put it on cydia, but I'd bet anything they won't get it in the appstore. Surely, they'd know this by now unless Apple has told them otherwise.
