Reinstalling OS

I installed panther using the up-to-date program update cd's. Now i'd like to do a clean archive and install as all I did the first time was an update. However when i get to the installer it won't let me install as it says a "newer" version of the OS is installed...

This happens when I either start up from the disk by holding the c key or by putting the disk in and starting the install process there.

Is there anything i can do? I assume this is because of the 10.3.2 update.
 
You have to reinstall 10.2 or earlier or format the drive to reinstall 10.3 from the update disks. They are update disks after all and want to be sure you owned a version of OSX prior to 10.3 before installing.
 
Alright, thanks...i had a feeling that was going to be necessary...kind of a pain but oh well.

I agree and I think next time a version of OSX comes out I will buy the full version at the EDU discount before I get the upgrade version. It's worth the time savings.
