iOS (Sale Price * .7) != Royalty price

I'm an Australian developer, and one of my products sells for $2.49 AUD. For sales made in Australia and the royalty price is $1.58, also in Australian dollars.

The thing I don't get is that $2.49 * .7 = $1.73, not $1.58, does anyone know why this is. I thought Apple only takes 30%?, that works out to more like 37% or so...unless GST or something is involved here.

Does anyone else have this on their statements?
 
You subtract sales tax before either you or Apple gets a cut. That goes directly to the government 🙂
 
aaah I'm an idiot, in the case of Australia
(sale price *.9) *.7 = royalty price

In english, take the GST off the sale price, then take apples 30% off that, and you get your cut. Makes perfect sense, thanks 😀
 
The exact royalty prices are given on the grid on iTunes Connect, and they don't always exactly match up (by a cent or two) with the 70% amount.
