Does anybody know what this slot on the front is for

Maybe it's a dumb question, but over here it's 1:10 in the morning and I just can't sleep before I get an answer to this question. It's being mentioned nowhere, just that on the left side of it there's a light indication it's sleeping.

So, does anybody have the slightest idea?

You mean the IR receiver for the optional remote?

Is that what it is? It's that little slot-like thingy on the far right, about 1,5" wide.

It's not a slot: it's dark semi-transparent plastic/glass covering the sensor.

Well, it sure looks like it. But I think you're right, didn't think of that option. Thanks!

are you sure?
on the old one the ir receiver is a black circle, it seems like it would be much easier to hide that sensor on the black bezel around the screen, much like the light sensors on the iphone/ipod touch.
this line looks bigger than the last sensor

The reason it's not in the bezel is so you can still use the remote while the notebook is closed...
