Unfortunately not. The new display ONLY works with the new laptops.

Hell no!

Works with the new laptops only at this point.

No, it will not work - only works on the new ones (LOL, even though someone already said that. Sorry I wasn't much help 😛)

right now the new macbook and macbook pro are the only computers this display works with. Apple's really shooting itself in the foot if they don't offer a way to connect this new screen to older generations.
