Questions on X-Plane App

I have heard that this is a complex flight simulator but it seems like you can only control the thruster and flaps as well as steer the plane. I am sure I am missing something because this app has been raved about. What are the other aspects you can control during flight that makes this realistic? Also, how do you access these controls?

It's not that realistic, but the physics and controls are just great. I'd really suggest downloading it even if you just slightly enjoy flight sims. There have already been a few updates and the app works great.

once you are in the air what controls and guages do you use to pilot?
