Apple to Release Q4 2008 Financial Results on October 21st
![]() Apple has posted a media alert announcing details for the October 21st release of their financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2008. The results will cover sales from June 29th through September 27th, and will be released at the close of trading (4:00 PM Eastern / 1:00 PM Pacific) on Tuesday. Apple's conference call discussing the results will follow at 2:00 PM Pacific and will be available via a live audio webcast. Apple's most significant release of the quarter was the iPhone 3G and the associated App Store in early July, with the iPod lineup also seeing a refresh near the end of quarter. No new Macs were released during the quarter, but recent data from research firms Gartner and IDC suggest that quarterly U.S. Mac shipments are still growing ~30% year-over-year, well ahead of the pace set by the PC industry as a whole. Not exactly true.
The new MB is the best consumer laptop that Apple has ever released. While it is true that your CPU is slightly and I mean ever so slightly faster. The GPU in the new MB is 5X faster, 5 times. So using real world applications like Aperture, Photoshop, any game, logic, imovie, FCE, etc. the new MB will easily out perform the old MB. When Snow Leopard is released the difference in performance should be even greater as the new OS will rely more heavily on the GPU.

Indeed! Never have so many eyes watched a quarterly results with such intense scrutiny. Well I certainly haven't.
Even if its good, you know the media are gonna spin it negatively this time round. thats my bet.

Looking forward to this. Will be interesting to see if the event will bump up the hard hit AAPL stock.

...as long as you have another computer to do the capturing in the first place. The new MB lacks Firewire, which is not great.

Apple's guidance from last quarter was $1.00 EPS, which caused a lot of shock and dismay. The consensus estimate for this quarter is $1.11. Last year they reported $1.01 EPS in the same quarter.
I will guess that they report $1.22 next week.

Yeah, that's pretty crazy. I could see as much as $1.30 if everything goes right. Of course all eyes will be on forward guidance.
What other forum, if you don't mind my asking?

correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they going to release THIRD quarter results? I guess they could theoretically know the results already, they did design a Time Machine
.

Apple's fiscal year begins roughly on October 1. So while these results are for the third quarter of calendar year 2008, it is the fourth quarter of their fiscal year 2008.

What......?I am pretty sure that Apple is not into sub-prime mortgages or any type of mortgage lending. If what I say is true then they probably did not get caught up in poor lending practices. So my bet is that Apple will be fine.
