I have read allot of opinions regarding the new deluxe macbooks, and wonder would apple have been better off to have offered a more deluxe version of the MB or even a 13" MBP ?

At present it seem that all apple laptops miss something.

15" + 17" MBP - to big for some.
13" MB - Dodgy screen or no firewire
13" MBA - heat and noise issues (a can of worms hopefully gen 2s will be better)

So my question for macbook users is this :
If these options were available for the 13" MB would you purchase them.

1. Screen upgrade (a deluxe 13" MBP style screen) +189USD
2. Firewire possibility +49USD

I personally would, and would have liked to have seen the new case have the option to remove the dvd drive if the user wished to.

The screen upgrade is possible, but the Firewire upgrade would require a new chassis (additional hole).

Actually I have decided to email apple on a long shot ..... "stevejobs@apple.com"
Based on Apples product catalog and what is feasible in terms of maybe making a change I have submitted the following email.

If anyone here agrees with me feel free to copy and paste the same thing and maybe, just maybe we could make a change.

I didn't ask for any other options apart from a deluxe screen option as this would mean a major redesign that would not be feasible.

Dear Sir,
I am one of the many Apple users who is looking for a small version of
the MBP. And while your latest macbook releases are a great step forward
in design and options, many of us still feel that there is too larger gap
separating the the 3 current laptop models (MB, MBP, MBA).

While many of us are excited with the new MB range, we would still like
to see an extra option configuration made available for it. I am one of
the many who would like the option of being able to purchase a higher
quality 13" screen if required that is more in line with the MBP quality
while shopping for a laptop from the apple store.

I am submitting this request in the hopes of it coming into reality and feel
this option would be more feasible for Apple to offer. As it wouldn't effect
the case etc.

Please conceder this as an option as many of us, are looking for a small
MBP and the MBA has been just a can of worms in terms of heat and fan
issues.

Cheers & good health

The firewire does not bother me but i need at least an express card slot.

I think that they should have done a 13" MBP and speced it out with a firewire port and express card slot. I would have also liked them to have added intel integrated graphics and a mid range dedicated GPU so implementing dual graphics like on the MBP but the intel gpu would allow max battery life. It seems like they have teamed up with nvida so this will not happen i expect. The nVida integrated graphics appears to be more power hungry than intel's offerings.
I would also have liked them to have made it a tiny bit lighter than the current 4.5lbs as well. The screen would also be as good as the MBP screen.

I'd love for a 13" MBP to be available. Since there isn't I'm now debating between the MBP and the MB. In the end, I think I'm going to go with the MB. Money isn't really the issue, but the size of it sure is.

Imagine if the amount of thread views, had sent Steve Jobs an email with
such requests. Maybe it would have an actual effect on products?

<<<<<< The above statement is a desperate attempt for my wants ;)
I know ... I know , but I want the closest thing possible to a 13" MBP
and any step closer is a step in the right direction.
Obviously there is a ton of extras we could all list, but the screen quality
has to be at the top of the list ... imagine a 13" pro Matt screen !

So please lets try and improve Steves heath with a nice diet of fresh spam ;)
You never know, it could have a miraculous effect on him.
