I just installed my 200GB 7200rpm HDD and I also want to upgrade the memory. the only problem is that I don't exactly see where the memory goes.

can anyone give me a clue?

Under the larger bottom panel. You have to remove screws to get to the memory. If you look at the underside of the panel that covers the battery and HDD you'll see a pictogram of how to get to the RAM.

The RAM is behind the screen. So first thing you need to do, you need to carefully remove the glass.

Another question, I got the $1299 macbook with stock 2GB of ram, is that 1x2GB? Or 2x1GB?

Unfortunately 2 x 1GB. Sure would have been nice if they did it the other way though.🙄 You can check for yourself by running system profiler and looking at memory info.
