Cooliris' Free 3D Wall Browser Now on iPhone

Cooliris has released a free iPhone version [App Store] of their browser plug-in that allows users to browse and search through images and video on the web.
Quote:
Cooliris makes finding news and search results a breeze by displaying them as an endlessly streaming 3D Wall, complementing the touch screen perfectly.

Search across Google, Flickr, Yahoo and much more. Discover News, Sports, Technology and Business - faster than ever before with the flick of a finger. These channels take advantage of location-based services to deliver regional news just for you.
The 3D wall view allows you to take advantage of the iPhone's multi-touch to scroll and zoom your way around the images.

Looks sweet. I think I'll try it. If it's really great, I wonder if Apple would consider building something like this into the iPhone OS for browsing local pictures. The OS will, no doubt, evolve. It's interesting to see potential directions it could take.

It's nice, but not as impressive as the Firefox version. Doesn't seem to have very good acceleration, but maybe that will come with a later update. Potential for brilliance is there though

I wonder if this'll crash as much as the Safari addon version.

I'm waiting to hear more feedback before downloading this. Please, if you have already been playing around with this, leave us a DETAILED review. Thank you.

Check out the video. There's a grid of pictures on a 3D wall which moves by either tilting your phone or dragging/flicking. Tapping a picture zooms into it, and you can then zoom more with multi-touch or flick to an adjacent picture. You can search images by selecting your database (i.e. Google) and it displays your results, which you can then browse through. If you keep scrolling to the right, more pictures load.

It's free. Try it. If you don't like it, delete it.

Great App but they have some kind of built in filtering of adult content.

I downloaded this when it came out 3 or 4 days ago and haven't used it much since. It does have a neat built-in browser though...nice black interface. I had it crash several times when first using it, so I've since deleted it. The coolest thing was tilting it and having the wall speed up, but then it has to download more pictures which takes to long too fill, even on my 10mbps wifi. My rating is meh.

I wonder if Apple made them do that? I also wonder if Apple will start putting restrictions on the Safari browser too. Apple knows best when it comes to what we should and should not read and look at!!

Make sure you read the reviews for this app before you download. Apparently, if you don't like it, you can't delete it. Seems to be a headache for many a user.

NOT TRUE. I just did.

I like the app, though, so I'm going to download it again.

Funny how everyone's concerned about girly pics. In the case of Google, I'm sure it's just defaulted to "Moderate SafeSearch is on," so whatever you can get to show up in Google's regular image search with this on will show up here. Maybe this will be customizable with future updates.

Question Buggy?

I just read the reviews and there were an alarming number of 1-star votes because of a bug that makes the iPhone crash when trying to remove it (or something). Anyone know anything about that?

Here's the follow-up.

I did uninstall it. I just held down the icon on my phone and hit the X to delete it. It worked. I ran into problems, however, when I tried to REINSTALL it.

When I went to the App Store (on my phone), the button to buy and install was greyed out and just said "Installed." I downloaded the app from iTunes and it downloaded fine, but when I tried to sync it to my phone, nothing. No indication of it trying to sync or anything. I unchecked the box under the Applications tab and synced again to "remove" it, then checked and synced it again to try to reinstall. Again, nothing. So now I can't get it back. It's a shame, I liked it. Hopefully they fix this.

So a word of warning. You CAN delete it. You just can't get it back. At least not yet.

I would imagine this is because of all the negative reviews saying it is messing up iPhones when uninstalling.
