Backing up a DVD

I want to back up my dvd movies to my hard drive or my ipod, I have tried dvd backup , but that does not seem to work for me, any ideas how to make it work or are tehre any other programs that preform the same function.

1)You could get a .mac account and use backup.

2)You could drag the the files to a disk and drag it to the trash to burn it.
