Looking to speed up encoding time: 4GB of ram or 2.4 ghz VS 2.2?

I've seen benchmarks and whatnot, but am looking for a somewhat specific opinion from somewhat with some tech knowledge that is beyond mine...

The main computing-intense thing I do on my computer is encoding video. Which of the following would yield better encoding times?

2.0 Ghz Macbook + 4GB RAM
2.4 Ghz Macbook

I've seen that the the 2.0 Ghz encodes about 15% slower than the 2.4 Ghz, but would the RAM upgrade make up for that?

Yep. OP: If you could even get a MacBook Pro then even better.

Meh, got a 2.2 MBP at the moment... Looking to trade down to something smaller since I don't need the graphics power.

Plus my brother has one of the new 2.4 Ghz Macbooks and it completely outclasses mine in terms of encoding with its new shiny magics.
