worst web host ever

www.gisol.com
let me tell you guys, this place is the worse f***ing host ever. they claim 24/7 support over the internet, and telephone. EVERY single number they list on their webpage is busy ALL the time. I have yet to reach a representative on the phone. Their online ticket help is bulls***, they take days to respond to simple questions and they don't answer fully. The website claims 30 day money back gaurantee, i've had it for a week. I have tried calling for days and no one has picked up, i have tried filing the online tickets, no response, i have tried emailing them, they send me back auto responses like "go fill out an online ticket." and to top it off, they claim 99.9% uptime.... my website and ftp has been down at least 2 - 10hour+ times during this week. these guys are bullsh**

Sounds like your best bet may be to dispute the charge with your credit card company. I've only had to do it once, but after I did, the company (which I couldn't get ahold of for a month) suddenly refunded my money and sent me a letter apologizing for everything.

How much do you pay for your service?
What I've learned hard way is that you can never ever get a 100% satisfying service with low-cost ones. So, after a long pain, I'm with a managed hosting at Rackspace.com. I pay like $240 a month, and they deliver. Well, yeah, it's steep, but I use them for biz.

I use aplus.net, their customer support has always been good, they answer the phone, and answer all my questions. They are fairly cheap and have a decent control panel.

Does anybody use Apuls.net. I am signing up more people (clients) with hosting. So far everything is good. But I'd like to hear some feedback for some other users.
Anybody got any input??

i am with aplus for a year now, when i started it took them 3 weeks to activate my domain. now after a year they just renewed my hosting but put my domain on hold. it has been 2 weeks like that and after 2 calls to tech people, 1 call to sales and 1 chat session nothing changed. my email ti their billing department is still unanswered after 10 days. i just signed with different hosting company, $1 more per month but 15 times more space (800MB) and 400 Email addresses. see how that works....

Everything about Dreamhost is great except for the fact that they don't have live customer service; in spite of this, however, I would also recommend them.

Dreamhost has livechat which is staffed most of the day. I have never had more than an 14 hour wait for support. If anyone has any questions about Dreamhost post in their forums > http://discussion.dreamhost.com/wwwthreads.pl?Cat=

I have been with them since 2000 and they have been great :-)

Hmmm

Hi, I own randomtrivia.s5 and for a free host it is excellant. No phone support, but e-mail. A few ads but lots of space, great templates and online editors. Would recomend. The worst host i've come accross would be 499angels.net - slow, poor customer service, very bad '1 at a time' uploader and extremely poor style.

i would hesitate going with a host which is "adult friendly" (unlesss you're running a pr0n site) or does not take a hard line on spammers and scammers -- if your 'neighbors' who share the same IP address or IP block misbehave, then your site risks being banned on blacklists along with them. Do your homework on the hosting company before signing -- including checking their reputation with anti-spam sites and blacklist orgs.

I don't know Dreamhost but I have heard they host adult.

try:
http://www.textdrive.com
http://www.asmallorange.com
http://www.mediatemple.net

You should probably avoid places offering "unlimited" bandwidth because its almost certainly a lie.

I use both Dreamhost and Bluehost. I really have been pleased with both, but I prefer Bluehosts admin interface (control panel) over Dreamhost.

But both have been reliable, with friendly, efficient support.

Cheers,
Duce

I use Dreamhost (and love it because I got in with the $7.95 hosting for a year, which is SWEET! ) but I must say that the Control Panel (and the way that they set up MySQL ) sucks.

Also, downtime has become a problem as of late.

I have bought a 2 year with Dreamhost and well, they are ok to use for small sites that doesn't run a lot of backend db stuff. You also cannot get your money back after the 90 days if you pre-pay (which has some customers mad because they overuse their CPU usage and they shut them down, but will not give their money back). The good thing is that they allow many (unlimited as of now) actual domains and subdomains and emai. BUT once I started using PHP/joomla, it got kinda slow. Yes and the CPU usage, be careful when you sign up with them. They allow like so much bandwidth, so much space, but then you get a limited CPU usage...which means you really don't get that much if you run a heavily used site and may have the chance of being shut down by them.

So I went out and used another hosting that I normally use for sites that i want to be sure would be more 'stable' which is Webmasters.com. The thing about webmasters.com is that their extra domains/sudomain aren't that good and i've never got to use them because they use the frame forwarding technique. They said it was changing soon, but don't know when soon is.

I'm also looking into MediaTemple since it seem that most "designer" type goes with them. I love to hear more thoughts about them including any negative thoughts!

I use http://www.netpivotal.com and I have never had any trouble with them. My site is always online and the few problems I had were fixed within an hour of submitting a ticket. I highly recommend them.

Bestg I've seen by FAR is GoDaddy. GREAT tech support. Tech help is a person who answers after a few rings. The service is incredibly extensible. They charge for services you need. No hard sell. It's ALL good.

I was about to register my new site with asmallorange.com but dreamhost.com gives you WAY more bang for your buck! Although the $50 set-up fee is a bit of a bummer, aso doesn't have the set-up fee does it?

14 hours? I'm used to my response time being in minutes at A Small Orange, there would be some serious butt kicking if I had to wait that long...

Ever wonder how Dreamhost is able to offer such wonderful sounding deals? Would they be profitable is everyone used all the resources that they had paid for? Would everyone even be able to use all the resources that they have paid for without them getting all "you're using too much CPU" with you? Just some food for thought...

Oh and being one to help out here and there with online support for various software I must say the "Problems installing X at Dreamhost" are some of the more annoying topics.

ASO doesn't have any setup fees for the shared hosting to answer your question.

Worst webhosting company ever

Same goes for seekdotnet, took them 2 DAYS to send a confirmation email regarding my account set up, after the 3 days of waiting for my account to get setup I requested a refund and cancelation, took them over 3 weeks to process my account cancelation and refund, not to mention the fact that I sent them at least 20 emails regarding my issues. So whatever you do, DO NOT EVER HOST with SeekDotNet, the worst hosting company ever!
