i used steel wool worked very well.

Ahh! Dude don't tell him that he might actually do it!

Hey OP, use iKlear or iClear, I can't remember the exact name. You can get it at the Apple store, it comes with a spray, cool kleaning clothes specifically made for the computer screen, and some other cool travel cleaners. Buy it, I have it and works great.
😀

Enjoy your new Mac, I'm getting one hopefully for Christmas : )

I work at the Chemistry Stockroom in my university so I have handy a little thing called Terri Towels. These things are twice the absorbing power of Bounty, very effective grease cleaners for screens, very soft on hands and things, and specially cleans dirt up well. I use one of these slightly damp and my MacBook's screen is left as new. I used them in my previous PC and now my Mac, they leave screens crystal clear and the smudges even keep off for a while.

Bad thing about Terri Towels is that they are expensive and are sold only by the case which contains 6 sets of 200 sheets. So I think I can call myself lucky me and my co-workers get to use these babies free.😉

warm water with a little soap and wipe with a wettex or hanky. dry while the glass it wet and no marks will appear. this works great on my glossy MacBook Pro display and aluminium body.

I am happy i am not stupid enough to take the first post advice. I think i am going to get that iklear stuff. Thanks for the help.

iKlear is for polymer based screens. Why would anyone need something so fancy and costly for a simple piece of glass? Glass is not exactly high tech folks. It's been around a while. I use water. Works like a charm. Maybe for a nasty food based smudge, a little Windex...

+1 on iKlear. I've been using it for quite awhile now and it's really easy to use. I take care of my screen, keyboard, trackpad and outer casing. It cleans and polishes as well. Totally recommend iKlear...😎

I wear glasses so I use eyeglass cleaner. Windex would probably work as well. But the finishing touch is the car wax. Dirt, dust don't stick, to the glass or the keyboard, they don't adhere because it's slick. And of course spills will beed up! Oh, and it really brings up the gloss!

i use these wipes

I use iCleanITs on my MacBook and my mobile phone. They are fab. They do the job and I carry them about with me.

I got so cheesed off wen havin a KFC or a MaccyD, my MacBook was all greased up for the rest of the day.. then I stumbled on these wipe things!!!

I second Windex. Originally I used only the cloth that the computer came with but after a while, it just smears the finger oils all over the screen. Water works well too with a handkerchief. Use water first and if there are still smears, use Windex. It's cheap and simple.

whats a good way to clean the aluminum? ive just been using water and just wiping it down to get the dirt off...and that seems to be fine, but is there anything else that might be better?
