list by ranking

Maybe there could be a feature where we could list all songs based upon number of total recommendations so we can see the top 50 or more songs...

Adding to that, I'd like to search top songs by genre. Specifically the top 50 or 20 songs recommended for Rock.

I certainly agree that sorting by the number of recommendations would be a good idea. Presently I need to simply go down the list to check, but with some areas having several pages I would rather simply sort this way.

I can see this being useful but I have to disagree with it in principal. Having songs sorted by rankings will only encourage people to only pick songs with the highest rankings, which will only result in those song's rankings going up. The result will be a self supporting cycle where the same songs stay at the top all the time.

This is really no different than how Top-40 radio leads to horrible music being on top. Hype and marketing drive the initail sales force, then the "everybody else likes it" fad causes people to continue buying it and keeps it "popular". Nobody stops to say "Hey, this song really sucks" except the music snobs, who are then shouted down for being music snobs.

I guess I really don't see the point of this. We already have a top recs list for all genres combined. A Top-40 list for pock or pop would just be the same songs you hear all the time on the radio (provided they are the iTMS). So why bother with a list? Just turn on the radio instead.

I doubt this site is in danger of rehashing the radio, many different choices are available.

Also, we can already browse through all songs with only one recommendation, I just want to see which songs are getting the most attention.
