I know this might not have been the smartest of ideas but, I've been having problems with my 4th gen, it keeps locking up on me no matter how many times I restoore it, then I noticed that there were still all these miscelaneous folders on the the disk, so I figured, "well, why not just reformat the drive with windows instead of restoring it". so I started to then I stopped because I figured I should back up whast on there allready.

now ever since I did that, I try to boot the ipod up, and the hard drive is not spinning, its not even making the clicky struggling sound, now its like a minuet, paced quiet buzzing sound. do you think I deleted the firmware, or did the hard drive just die on me? I have another hard drive right here that works fine, I just would like to know what happened to this one and if this is repairable? thanks
