Depression?
Hey guys, I was just wondering if you guys could help me figure something out.
Anyone ever know anyone with depression or deal with it themselves? Any noteable symptoms that are easy to detect? Thanks. |

Would a person be displaying all these symptoms?
What if its just a majority? |

You basically lose hope, don't enjoy just about anything (things as simple as eating) and feel like there's no reason to live. That's it in a nutshell. If you think you might be suffering, it's very treatable; go see your primary care physician and get a referral to a psychiatrist. |

Never has to be all of these symptoms. If I knew someone with half of these symptoms I would be worried.

Think of all the symptoms you can think of when someone is having a down day, then multiply by 1000 and expect it every day.

Are there different levels of depression?
Like, say they display most of the symptoms, but just not the suicidal part? (loss of motivation, feelings of hopelessness, withdrawn, urges to be wreckless with body, etc) |

Who would you recommend a person, say, a 17 year old talk to about it if parents are not an option?

Absolutely. Even with a passionate President-elect things in DC move slowly.

There are lots of resources online as well - forums just like this one, but for folks suffering from the disease. Does that help? |

If you have a trusted older relative (uncle/aunt) who you can talk to for a while (before they eventually inform your parents), try that. |

You will often be asked to fill in a questionnaire called the 'Wakefield test'. You can take it anonymously here:

Google up Vitamin D3 it works wonders. I was rather stressed from my various businesses to the point where depression was kicking in. I now supplement with D3 and it helps lots.

For the other person to answer you question no they can cover it up very well and you might get something here and there. I battle with depression every day. I struggle with it. I can also cover it up very easily and I do cover it up where very few people see my private struggle with it. It is here and there people who know will see when either a topic comes up or I am talking about something that hits closer to it and the emotions show threw. It always here and there that something like the battle shows. |
