Transfering Applecare

How do I transfer applecare to someone? Can I call Apple and get them to transfer for it over the phone or do I need to send it to the address in the Applecare terms of service?

I did a transfer of Applecare from a MBP last week. The original owner did not transfer it for me - so I just called in and transferred it myself. Did not need any proof of purchase - I didn't even need the owners name.

So, technically you don't have to do anything. Applecare is tied to the laptop. Not to the owner.
