Finding specs using MBP serial number

I was wondering how to find the complete specs of a MBP online if I have the serial number? I need it urgently. Also, if thats not possible can someone post the complete specs of MBP with this serial number : W88136BUYJY?

Help is appreciated.

you can go into system profiler and get most of the information that you desire

your machine is considered an Early '08 MacBook Pro

Is there a way to find your serial number w/o opening the battery cover?

Go to About This Mac and then more information. Your serial number is on the bottom of the first window.

Goto "About This Mac" then click on the grey text, twice. Just under "Mac OS X" alternatively click on "More Info..." and look under "hardware"

For more info, related to your serial number, check here!

Don't need to click on 'More Info' just click on the text that says 'Version 10.XX' and you'll get the build number, click again and you guess what comes then

It is a good computer, no doubt. The only thing that would make me hesitate even for a second is the prospect of the GPU going bunk.

Thats odd, under About this Mac my machine is 2.53 which is what I ordered but when I enter my serial number it comes up as 2.8

I did get a BTO but it was for the HDD bump to 320/7200. Anyone know why there would be discrepancy?
