Has anyone tried to install an 802.11g card other than Airport Extreme on their iBook?

The Airport Extreme card is over priced, but neither D-Link nor Netgear support Mac OS X (according to their websites). Does any one know of any alternatives?

Thanks,

Vlad

the slot on the iBook is made specifically for an Apple AirPort card, and has a link to the built-in antenna. You can get it from somewhere like MacMall.com for $98, and some places already have them 'used' or 'refurbished' for slightly cheaper. (Be sure to get the one for your machine, the first iBooks only supported the 802.11b cards.)

Nothing says you have to use an Apple basestation though. You can get a basestation for under $120 now that will easily work with the Apple card for your iBook.

There arent any... you just gotta suck it up and get the Airport Extreme card. (Unless you want an external USB receiver, but that will cost you at least as much as the Airport Extreme card).
