I have a friends who found a way to make his buddy icon his wallpaper, with the animations, and everything, and I was just wondering if that was possible for mac, I have 10.2.8

i have panther

and i put an animated gif file as my desktop and it didn't move. But you can set up for your desktop to change between pictures, every 5 seconds at the fastest. Both of those I don't think were included with 10.2. So look around for some shareware, might have something out there.

I believe there is a little osX app that lets you use a screensaver as your desktop. That would be a step in the right direction. I'll hunt around for it...

its out there... i had it for a while... turned out to be more annoying than anything... i dont remember what its called though...

i just downloaded an awesome animated GIF and i really want to make it animate as my desktop pattern. I know in windows this is no problem (although in my experience it is always annoying as hell). I know i will be sick of it in a week, but I REALLY want it to work for some reason.

Suggestions are highly appreciated!

If you make a special folder for desktop images, you can go to System Preferences > screensavers, and choose that folder and images in it. Pick the animated gif and see if it animates on the desktop.

Another good Screensaver wallpaper app is called BackLight2, and its by Freshly Squeezed software.
