ibook g4 display issues - logic board?

I'm trying to fix my fathers iBook G4. It's having intermittent display issues where the screen will go from normal function, to displaying multi-colored vertical stripes, to displaying solid colors.

The colors being shown take up the entire display and seem to cycle through in a pattern.

I've wiped the hd and ran hardware test. Neither were successful.

Are any of you familiar with this issue?

I'm in the process of taking the computer apart in hope of finding a loose / dirty connection to the display.

Any advise to help me along is welcome.
