In theory the 2.8 Ghz MBP is faster than the 2.8Ghz iMac

But is it really

The way i see it everything is the same except for the RAM which for the MBP DDR3 as opposed to the iMac that has DDR2 so if you have the same everything else the MBP must be faster, right?

MacBook Pro (Late 2008)
Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 @ 2.80GHz - 3671 points
(Geekbench in October 2008)

iMac (Early 2008)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8235 @ 2.8 GHz (2 cores) - 3714 points
(Geekbench in June 2008)

Does that help?

I would imagine the faster hard drive and presumably faster dedicated video helps the numbers on the iMac too. Also, is the iMac 2..8 using the Desktop version of the C2D? That usually brings on a difference in performance. But hey, we are comparing Apples to Apples ! 😀
