hi guys. I've exhausted Google and this forum to try to find a solution to this problem, but to no avail..... here I am.

My specs:
iPod 30GB 5th Gen Video
Mac formatted

Basically, I don't know what happened....... but, now when I plug my iPod into my iMac, it'd not detected at all. It doesn't even charge it..... and it doesn't charge on a wall charger either.

I've tried the 5 R's method, several times. I've tried plugging it in on a PC and it says it's malfunctioned.
I've tried plugging in my Nano with the same USB cord to the same USB port and it does get detected.
I've also tried the Disk Mode feature as well.

The iPod works still. I am able to play songs and everything, just I can't add anymore now.

Any help?

EDIT: ok after being really frustrated with it for a while, I hit it hard with my hand and now it's detected, but sometimes gets disconnected and reverts back to the same problem. Does this mean the hard drive is messed up? or the USB port is messed up? Ugh!
