I have a number of USB devices connected to my iMac either directly or through a powered 2.0 Hub. I have found that after restarting some devices have not started or found. I have to unplug the device from the hub and then re-plug or power off and on for it to be found. My Seagate 500Gb USB shuts completely off when the iMac is powered down which means I have to remove power plug and then reinsert. This totally drives me crazy. Does anyone elase have similar problems? I know I am new to Mac, but things like this are hair pulling.

The Belkin I was having trouble with was a 7 port, which used to lock up on me fairly regularly. I replaced it with this one (although the built in card reader is really slow). Since then I've used a couple of 4 port Belkin hubs with no problem.

I need the minimum of 7 USB 2.0 with all the connectors on one side.

Happy to hear it worked for you

I think the key to solving these problems is the ports have to have automatic connect which keeps the ports alive after reboot. My FreeAgent USB drive would shut off completely but no longer with this hub.
