The streaming idea concerns me a little. I guess that means you can't play your music if you're not connected to the net? Wonder how it transfers to an MP3 player...

The other question is...
Could a person re-rip from burned CDs as they can with the iTunes stuff?

Re-ripping from CDs can't be prevented, so yes you can!
Another Mac- and iPod- compatible option is not a bad thing--especially if it doesn't use Microsoft's format. Also, FYI... if you didn't already realize it, there ARE independent artists already in the iTMS without the backing of labels: http://macslash.org/article.pl?sid=0...22&mode=thread CD Baby and Rain Dog both provide services to get in iTunes cheaply and independently. (But you can be sure that they don't just take ANY mess of a CD they receive--or if they do, Apple doesn't. Apparently, some non-iTMS stores accept ANY audio that gets sent to them, as a way to pad the size of their claimed collection.) Maybe GarageBand will become an iTunes genre soon
