10% max? maybe enough or a little more to cover the sales tax.
no one should hold their breath about it being higher than IMO.

And New Zealand doesn't have a Thanksgiving, much less a Black Friday...
US customers should be smarting. |

I think I see MacBook and MacBook Pro on the promotion material. I'm eyeing for the 2.53Ghz MBP for my parents.

True. Last year the Black Friday sales were disappointing as well.

Are black friday specials ever better than the education discount? I'll cancel and reorder the 24" LED cinema display if they are.

Our one day sales have been on Dec 1st in the last few years.
NZ don't have Thanksgiving so this isn't a Black Friday event - just their standard once a year one day sale.

Again, expect nothing in a sale from Apple. When you can get $300 off a typical $700-$800 PC this Black Friday, these types of Mac discounts are worth nothing. Puny 10% Apple discounts are just not good enough when you're seeing 30%-50% off PC laptops this Friday.

student discount?
anyone know/remember if apple also allowed the student discount in addition to the black friday discounts? being apple i doubt it, but it would add up to a decent amount.

Ah Apple, at the spearhead of forcing every American holiday down the throats of the rest of the world..... and at up to 10% off their products I couldn't care less, wonder if the native americans get a further discount for old times sake.

Twas the midnight after Thanksgiving,
and all through the house, everyone was shopping, for their new mighty mouse. They'll purchase a new MacBook, single-piece aluminum, then have it gift wrapped, and sent straight to them. Paying the bill for a new Cinema Display, they'll say, "that's not so bad, that price is ok!" Continuing on with a Thanksgiving tradition, they'll be done Christmas shopping- they'll be done with their mission. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Apple gets no new customers from their puny "sales", and yet loses potential money from customers who were going to buy from Apple anyway, isn't that only hurting Apple?

What I meant by my comment was that it isn't a day when companies are generous towards consumers. It's nothing more than a lure to get people spending and Apple obviously know what sort of discounts they need to offer to make Black Friday work for them. To say a 10% discount isn't good enough because other computers can be had for less (often end of line or poor quality) stinks to me of entitlement. I'm sure someone will quote me (well maybe not now) of being a fanboi, but there are a lot of people on this forum that ignore logic and expect Apple to bend over backwards for them when it isn't in Apple's interests at all. |

They must just want to synchronise them this year - no harm done. How are they forcing an American holiday? There's no mention of Thanksgiving at all. NZ doesn't celebrate it, neither do we and the rest of the world - doesn't mean we can't get a sale too.
