You can't jailbreak the second generation iPod touch yet.

The firmware itself is jailbreakable, just not on the 2nd gen ipod touch.

The jailbreak is not about firmware... is about Hardware

It probably won't. The dev team is having some trouble with the jailbreak; they have to re-apply a patch every time the ipod is booted. This probably won't take them long though, and if it does they may just polish up the "RecoveryTool" app and send it out anyway to tide the hardcore people over.

Here's hoping I'm wrong!

Well i don't mean to be rude or anything but its already done. Just last night i jailbroke my iPod touch second gen and it is so so worth it. It is certainly risky. You can do it super easily its all on youtube and there are a couple posts on here about that, i was basically the first guiny pig to test this and it worked perfectly. It is not stable if you will (yet). 75% of the time it will work perfectly but the other 25% no worries on iTunes when you simply connect it and click restore and it will be back to normal and you can try it again anyway if you have a question ask me? k talk to you guys later.

It doesn't exist.

It is also now MOOT, as 2.2.1 is out, and the Dev Team will change their focus to that instead of 2.2.

Well, not really. First of all, if they've made progress on 2.2, then they can just have people downgrade. I doubt the specific code that they're looking at has changed significantly or even at all. In fact, this release gives them two versions of the code to look at and find exploitable holes in. Also, the first exploit the dev team found is in the 2.1.1 iBSS anyway, and that iBSS is easily uploaded to work with later firmwares (or so they tell us).

Guess you are confused as to what I was replying to. I was replying to the poster above me that stated he already jailbroke his touch and I stated that he should provide links of how to do it and the program or it didn't exist and he was lying.

Great things like being able to play NES or gameboy advance/color games.

Mxtube, which lets you download youtube vides directly to your ipod so you dont need wifi all the time.

You can have themes so you can change the look.

The list goes on and on

Well for one thing, you would get to be able to program on windows, control your computer (touch pad, keyboard, and everything), control all electronics in the house, get Adobe Flash, change the background behind the icons, put a message at startup, and all this for FREE!!!

Nope, not true jailbreak. Chronic dev team would be the one to post something like this. This is just some person knowing people are looking for a 2gen ipod jailbreak methods and allows easy access for viruses to be downloaded.

You can't unlock an iPod touch, because it isn't locked in the first place. You can jailbreak it but not unlock it because it has no baseband

Ipod Touch 2nd Gen Jailbreak

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not until next year before there's a jailbreak for the 2nd gen ipod touch. Especially at the rate that the iphone dev team is moving, who knows when that'll happen.

I just got the iPod Touch 2G with the 2.2 software. I am pretty sure that jailbreaking it voids the warranty with apple but what are the cons of jailbreaking it. There are tons of other apps that you can download and change backgrounds, but i am not sure if it is worth it when they get the hack. Love to know what you think. Thanks
