Macally AC Adapter - Fluctuating/Broken?
I just bought a new AC Power Adapter from Macally (bought at Frys) for my 1.25 G4 12" Powerbook. I was turned away from the local apple store because they wouldn't do anything about my fraying and fire/shock hazard power adapter (another story, but starts me getting perturbed), so I get the Macally power adapter since it was a lot cheaper than the amount of money that the apple store employee at the Genius bar told me a new one will be.
It worked when I got it home. So I was pleased. I can finally use my laptop again without the fear of me killing myself whenever I plugged it in. But now, it is fluctuating. The charging icon goes from charging the battery to battery in use icon, it's not staying consistent in it's charging. Of course, as it's switching back and forth every few seconds the screen is fluctuating in brightness. Thoughts? I am about to get back to Frys and try another one. It might have to do with my 12" needing 65w and this charger is only rated at 30w (for the earlier powerbooks/ibooks). False advertising much? Sincerely perturbed. gB
