iTunes and Ripping from Scratched CDs

Question: why doesn't iTunes provide the ability for its users (like me) to cancel/shut down/recall/stop a CD rip? Say I try and rip a CD that looks a tad bit scratched. iTunes does a great job until, oops, it hits the scratched part of the disc. iTunes basically keeps trying and trying and trying to rip the scratched song, but it never quite moves forward. Instead of simply pressing a button that allows me to say "Skip This Song" or "Cancel Rip", I have to force quit iTunes just to get the CD out. And that brings up another point, would it be too... smart? ugly?... to put a even tiny button somewhere on the laptop case that forces a disc to come out? No, it wouldn't.

Excuse me being pissed about this. But Macs are supposed to be modern and intuitive. It makes no sense not to have at least the "Cancel Rip" button readily available in iTunes to prevent the unstoppable loop that iTunes gets itself into when a CD is scratched and it can't read the data!

Is there a solution I'm missing?

Or you could use a more heavy duty program such as Max for ripping scratched CD's. This uses something called CD Paranoia which works far better than the built in error correction in iTunes.

I use xACT for problematic rips, especially to flacs. Reads all tags and so forth. Unlike Max, it gives a rip log. Worth checking out.
