Hello everyone,

I know I am a little late to the party, but I've finally posted a review of my (ridiculously) shiny new Apple MacBook Pro: 2.8GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 320GB hard disk. Actually, it's less of a review and more of a comparison with my existing first-generation Macbook pro.

In case you're in the same boat as me and looking to upgrade, perhaps you'll be interested in what's different, what works, and what doesn't!

Long story short: I like the machine but I can't stand the reflective screen.

You're a good writer, and I enjoyed reading your well-written review. As a fellow owner of both models, I tend to agree with most of your views, although I don't find the new screen to be as bad as you do.

Thanks for the review. :)

I was so focused on getting the new MB but I think I will get the new MBP for Christmas. I am so excited :) and congrats btw.

Thanks, and I'm glad you liked it (and mostly agree!) xpovos.

I have to admit I was being a tad theatrical when it came to critiquing the screen, but I also think how much its reflectivity affects different people depends upon the specific lighting of the places they use their computers. In my environment, it does disturb me.

I don't notice the reflectiveness of the screen at all above 4 ticks of brightness. but in class I leave it at 1 tick all the time because I have some 5 hours of class to get through, so I close it when I'm not typing and such. It's my note-taking machine.

Fixed it. Damn windows.

Awesome review! :D
Glad to see a post about the new MBP where it wasn't somebody talking about a problem or complaining

The link doesnt work on my pc. Whats up with that? I wanted to read the review.

I am not sure why it isn't opening. Does anyone else have a problem?

OK, then the problem must've been something specific to Next Tueday's setup (which has since been fixed).

Awesome review! :D

Glad you liked it! (Though about 20% of the piece was dedicated to complaining.) :)

MBPs are fairly new to Apple... how is it you're a long-time user? ;)

You know how dog years work out to about 7 human years (not really true but I'll use it here for the sake of a comparison)...well its the exact opposite in 'computer years.' :D I'd say anyone who has used a computer for over a year is a long time user when you consider the lifespan is about 5 years *max*.

Thanks for the review, good read.

FWIW I used a PowerBook 140, then a PowerBook 180c before moving onto the Duo line (with dock).
I guess that makes me a near fossilized Apple laptop user. :D
