I got all the way to the terminal.

I feel special. 😀

I tried typing in " man changeip" which did not work.

Then I tried "man" then "changeip" to no luck. 🙄

Any computer geniuses that can help me out?

UPDATE:
I seem to get somewhere only when I type "man" 😕

Whoa, buckaroo... what are you trying to accomplish?

First, are you using Tiger or Tiger Server? Or didi you manually install changeip? "man" shows you the manual page for a command you have. I don't even think changeip is available on the workstation / client version of Tiger. So man won't give you the man pages for a program you haven't got installed.

Are you trying to change your IP several times, or are you trying to lock yourself to a static IP address on your intranet? If you're doing the latter, you should use System Preferences -> Network -> your interface -> TCPI/IP -> turn off DHCP and specify an IP there.
