What should the Apple 'Mascot' be?

So Dell has the really annoying Dell Dude, Steven. Apple doesn't have any one person, maybe Jeff Goldblum, but he's mostly just a voice.

Not that Apple needs a spokesperson, or whatever, but what would like to see and not see if they went there?

how about.... a firewheel???

ha.

i think that the great thing about apple is that their designs are kinda mascot like.... the first imac, and now the new one... and the powerbook. especially

i think the best bet would be an animated version of one of the products

though i'm sure it'd be cheesy and annoying if done wrong.

well the latest lcd iMac commercial, with the guy walking on the street and the iMac mimicing him, sort of works that way.

I was sort of thinking along these lines when I created the thread. The nice thing is that the ads get away with out actually saying anything, and end up being so much more classy than any other computer companies commercials.

Speaking of the Dell guy I saw a good joke about him on Conan last night. Clips of car crashes, people on fire and train derailments were being shown and in the middle of them all was a clip of the Dell guy.

LOL That's great... so true.

I reckon we should just get some guy to dress up in a big apple, with acouple of other people chasing him trying to take bites out if his costume. Now that' high-quality entertainment!

Just have a big user friendly Apple walking around, it sounds a little stupid though. We must find someone.

Now that sounds weird. A large apple walking around making friends with people in the street...'hi, I'm an Apple, use me, I'm friendly ' That might get you into trouble, or be the plot of a very bad porn movie....

Apple has a great image, they would need to make it more classy, nothing cheesy. That might be why they've never had a real mascot.

If we're getting into metaphors, i would equate the worm with microsoft.

Why does apple need a mascot? They have their logo, why would they need anything more? Linux have their penguin, both as logo and mascot, microsoft have their windows logo, with the devil as their mascot .... the apple with a bite taken out of it is probably the most recognised non-verbal logo out there. Let's not try to confuse the dumb masses by having more than one symbol for the same thing.

you know, i think mervyn's has a great spokesperson...she comes across as equally smart and good looking and at the same time, she can appeal to the working class and rich alike...she can't be pinned down to any certain group/demographic and that is a good thing

jeff goldblum would be too cerebral and the dell kid is a little too juvenille (i think...but i am 38)...so the right person would be great

steve jobs, as brilliant as he is as a salesman, comes across a little to harsh and aggressive...but we macheads put up with even his worst blunders because along with the woz, they gave birth to our machines

On the topic of big rock stars who use Macs to edit...Why not Moby? Or Rikki Rocket from Poison?

As for me, I think it should be Christopher Walken. There's a guy who REALLY thinks different. Or DeNiro. Either of these guys could scare you into buying a Mac.
