How do i make the end of a loop sustain?

Loops always end cold. so like you might have made a lead break but it stops dead at the end. Lead guitarist's don't often do that!

Likewise at the end of a song, i'd like to end it with a nice strong crisp tight finish but let the sound fade, not cut off.

So how do I do sustain?
