My brother was just wondering when Mac OS X 10.4 Mountain Lion, and OS 10.5 Kitty were coming out.

Actually, I thought I read somewhere that Lion was the name for 10.4.

Mountain Lion is the same as a Puma or Cougar, that was 10.0 IIRC.

"Kitty" would be a little nonspecific. 10.5 Domestic Shorthair?

There is still Tiger, Leopard, Bobcat, Serval, Caracal, and of course Lynx, but that probably sounds too much like Linux, and they might not use it unless they do some sort of Linux/Unix fusion.

Since the cat is out of the bag, I can tell you about OS X for x86 processors, code name *****.

edit: damn filters ruin a great joke. (p*ssy)

Lynx is the name of a popular deodorant over here, I'm not sure that's a great name.. 🙂

What was Apple thinking with not registering Ocelot?!?! It sort of rolllllllllllllls off the tongue. OS X Ocelot. However invaribly Jobs would slauter the name as his Jagwire reference. UGH.

What would be cool is if the version of OS X that comes out before Longhorn is called Sabertooth. 🙂

I hope that whenever MOS is upgraded they will maintain the feline names. It just sounds cool. Or if nothing else with OS 11 they call it

OS XI: "MS @$$ Beater" Edition
OS XI.1: "MS Dominatrix" Edition
OS XI.2: "Oh god Microsoft is going down" Edition
OS XI.3: "[insert snappy name here]" Edition
OS XI.4: "DAMN THAT'S SOME GOOD S**T!" Edition
OS XI.5: "Marauder" Edition
OS XI.6: "MS ain't got nothing on us." Edition
OS XI.7: "Virus free edition"
OS XI.8: "Copy THIS Microsoft!" Edition
OS XI.9: "Prelude" Edition

OS XII: [Infinity Symbol]

personally they should go with os x garfield or os x pookie, IMHOP.
i think os x bovine would be the best then everyone mooing their macs.

I hope they stick with the cat names, especially since it's so funny to hear Steve Jobs go through the list at all of the keynotes. "Well we started with..."

Duff-Man says....while I like the sound of "lynx" I wonder if it maybe will sound a bit too much like "linux"...so how about - "fat domestic tabby" - oh yeah!

I don't know if naming an OS that the media often sees as a dying system after an extinct cat is really the best idea. 😉

How about Bastet

10.9.9.9. -> FELINE ETERNAL

(or should they quit the silly cats and just give it a good old-fashioned name like 'Beauregard'?)
