iOS OpenAL & iPhone Simulator

I've read in a few other places that OpenAL is not supported on the simulator. The pages I read were often pre 2.0 IPSW. I'm just wondering if this has changed with later versions of the SDK and simulator before I start playing around with OpenAL.
