they can do it in music and mail..
and i believe ipod touch has the capacity to do that
is it worth jailbreaking the ipod touch just for running app like fring/pandora etc in background? :confused:

music is the only thing that runs in the backround.

They do it for battery/processor/ram considerations.

Apps tend to crash when the processor or ram is running heavy

hmm. maybe that's why they said "solving life's dilemma, ONE APP AT A TIME" in the commercial.. :D

Depends on what you mean by what you mean "running in the background". Technically, almost all of the apple apps do that. Clock app runs the alarm, iTunes downloads stuff in the background, Calander uses alerts, app store downloads stuff while its downsized, and mail shows unread mail

Also, Palringo, a non-apple app runs in the background but keeping you logged in.
