Apple today released Multi-Touch Trackpad Update for Windows & Vista for Macs running Windows XP or Vista via Boot Camp. The update installs trackpad patch v 2.1.2.100 and weighs in at 3.7 MB. Full details on the update can be found on Apple's support page.

Apple notes that computers running 64-bit versions of Vista are not automatically offered this update, so these users should manually download the update and install it.

I hope Snow Leopard includes Boot Camp 3.0 so crap like this is sorted out and the whole Boot Camp experience is much better (and not just limited to people with Macs made in '08).

Any link to where to get the Vista 64 driver? The one linked at this page doesn't work.

This hopefully fixes all trackpad issues on Windows. If they can go on now and release new power optimized drivers for all hardware components in the notebooks so we get better battery life in Windows, then i applaud them.

This is retarded. They say that 64-bit OS's won't work with this update, and to download a separate one made for Vista64 from their site, but they never show you were to get it.

Can't log into internet at school from Windows, but did you guys knew that you were able to make right clicks with three fingers?

I do hope tap does no more suck with these drivers thought

No more 3 Finger right clicks (fixed to 2 Fingers) and the clicking and dragging is working a lot better (Alum Macbook)

I just installed it, and the trackpad is a lot more usable now.

However, I have noticed that two finger scrolling is confused with two finger right click often... so it is not perfect yet. But it's not unusable anymore, that's for sure.

is there any way to enable "tap-to-click" in windows? it's so annoying to have to click the trackpad all the time. loving that i can use two fingers to right click now.

umm, not to appear rude or anything, but does it work with the older macbooks, or just the new ones?!? I'm kinda pissed that I slapped over 1K and still can't get tap to click feature on Windows. Granted, it is a Mac machine and the tap to click feature does work natively on Leopard, but it can't be that hard to stick it in Windows right? I know I have the hardware... since it works in Leopard... argh.

Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like a pretty sought out driver. About time that they come out with something like this, it's going to be a lot of better for people using bootcamp

I get "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed." error as well. I think this update will only work with the late 2008 macbooks...

Yes, I am too. I have an early 2008 MBP running Vista 64. This is pissing me off. It says there's a separate download for Vista 64 it doesn't give a link to download it.

On the support page for this update, it states:

This update improves Multi-Touch trackpad responsiveness and performance when running Windows XP and Vista using Boot Camp on MacBook Air (Late 2008), MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), and MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) computers."
We early 2008 MBP users are out of luck.

Well that sucks ass. What the f*ck is Apple doing here? If they have the ability to improve the touchpad accuracy in Vista (which is terrible), why won't they just release it for all Macs. I mean come on, it's not like anyone is buying new hardware just because this little driver update is locked down to the newest machines.

Edit: Oh well, they want to be dicks about it, so I just manually installed the drivers. Just extract from the exe with Winrar, then go to Device Manager and manually update the drivers for "Apple Multitouch" with the multitouch trackpad drivers and "Apple Multitouch Mouse" with the multitoch mouse driver.

The configuration is in bootcamp in control panel.
