Porn in Microsoft's Seadragon!
Yes I know, hard to believe but its true!
Download Seadragon by microsoft then go to Browse Photosynth. Then the libraries named "home_two" and "home_s12" are full of it. This is ridiculous! Some one is getting fired for this one! If apple is so tough on some developers yet not tough enough on Microsoft, they need to get their act together for sure. I have screen shots but dont believe me, see for yourself! |

I was on the fence about bothering with this but I've downloaded it now.

Well I guess if there needs to be a reason to download an MS app to your iPhone, this will be it.

My theories ...
This just became the App Store's #1 app. Steve-o is currently patting himself on the back for that remote uninstall switch he tossed into the iPhone's OS. Someone is getting fired.

App store ratings are useless on free apps. Any tool can download and write a one liner or a one word response for the sake of responding.
Porn aside, the ariel view of the earth is kickass! I wish I could delete the porn though because I'm pretty sure it is not my cup-o-tea.

Some of the set is actually quite interesting. Clothes on, clothes off.Of course, this stuff is user submitted. I could go submit ****** and it would show up in Seadragon. EDIT: LOL it edited that word that starts with goat. Anyway, what I'm saying is that I could go post whatever I want and it would show up. |

Seriously... pulling the plug on Seadragon because someone put porn on Photosynth is like pulling the plug on Youtube because someone uploaded illegal content. It's going to happen. I'm not sure that Seadragon will ultimately be of any real use to anyone, but certainly with any kind of hosting service like this, these things happen. Microsoft will need to ... improve their adult content detection, figure out what they want to do about having "adult" materials on their service (which Youtube does allow), etc, but otherwise, this is pretty meh.

I don't think they'll pull the plug. I think someone is going to be in trouble though. I've been using it for a few minutes and I don't see the usefulness, but the google earth type thing is rather cool. That's pretty much it. I don't care to share tons of silly photos using their application. I think it's supposed to be similar to social networking, but I can't see how this would benefit anyone. Other than the teenage boys downloading it for the porn right now, that is.

Not to be too much of a stickler about things but....
When did nude photography become "porn"? Ah: nevermind, I went into another library and there is some of what qualifies for the latter there.

I don't think it's terribly useful right now, except that it's somewhat better than viewing most other online image collections from a mobile device. I think it's a much better experience, were my vacation photos on there, than e-mailing someone a Photobucket or Flickr link and having them view my images on those sites from their iPhone. If it added the ability to easily upload a collection of pics from the iPhone camera roll, so that I could upload my camera roll to a new subdirectory of my account with them and then send people a link by e-mail that would launch it in Seadragon, all from my iPhone, I think it would actually be pretty useful.

HAHA. The library of congress thing was cool. I was hoping the photosynth pictures were more like the desktop version where you can roam around in 3d.
BUT I hope this subject makes it to the bloggers. Whats worst is that the icons themselves for the libraries show it. |

Just checked, those two folders are the only items that I would qualify as porn as of right now. LOL.

It also brings up the question of what the standards are... I just noticed that Youtube on the iPhone not only shows the Youtube-flagged "adult content," but doesn't even make you authenticate to see it (like the web Youtube interface does). Mobile Safari certainly is as happy to surf porn as anything else.
What exactly are the standards for Microsoft?

It is pretty bad that Microsoft created a product so open for the "competitors product." All kidding aside. They definitely need to put some sort of restriction on content as it appears individuals are using this as a hub for family photos.

If Apple lets you surf porn on Safari, an application that COMES on the phone. Why would Microsoft take heat for letting you see porn on an application that you choose to download?

Official Microsoft Software Testing Criteria:
Does it open successfully and stay open for up to five seconds? Does it do at least some of what we told people it could do? Does it do what it does do at least as slowly as the previous version? Does it have clear error messages? If you were able to answer "Yes" to a minimum of none of these questions, your software is ready for printing. |

But, lets say someone you know post pics on seadragon. Then you give the phone to your young child to look at the pics in seadragon not knowing that there is adult content in the seadragon libraries. It is fairly easy for the child to stumble onto the porn. Where as with safari at least they would accidentily have to put something relevant into the browser to get access to porn. The chances of which require them to somewhat know how to use a browser in the first place. Seadragon is much simpler to navigate in that regard compared to safari.

AND also the fact that Apple was denying apps such as pull my finger simply because it was of limited functionality. It is now a top app BUT because there was so much pressure put on them by the bloggers and media.

I am not saying it is a perfect situation, but I don't think Apple is in the position to say no. |
