Apple Updates MobileMe Online Apps
![]() Apple has detailed some recent changes they have made to their MobileMe web apps. A partial list of changes and improvements are listed here: - Searching for contacts in a large address book (more than 1000 contacts) is faster and no longer results in a "slow script" browser alert message - Exported vCards with multi-line addresses or notes can now be imported into the Mac OS X Address Book - Adds keyboard shortcut to create a new contact - Adds sorting of To Do items by calendar or title - Family Member accounts now display the accurate renewal/expiration date - Resolves an issue that prevented some members from using an activation key (MobileMe box) to renew a subscription - "Keep me logged in for two weeks" checkbox now works reliably Apple has said that they will be providing regular updates to the MobileMe service that occur transparently to the end user. MobileMe is the online mail, calendar, contact and sync services available to Mac or PC users. Article Link: Apple Updates MobileMe Online Apps Last edited by Doctor Q : Dec 23, 2008 at 12:13 PM. |

I got really excited because for whatever reason I thought this meant more access/compatibility with the iPhone... well specifically just accessing my idrive or whatever it's called.

Last night was the first time i tried to log into my account in a while, I actually had something to do, and the site wasn't working. Transparently upgrade huh? What's their definition of transparent? |

Where are the much needed improvements for reliability and stability in the webmail app?

Why can't you...
add the anniversary field on MobileMe contacts like you can in the address book?

IE7 support might be nice too...you know, I'm forced to use it at work...it has been out for atleast a year now. And it is surprisingly somewhat more secure than IE6. You'd think Apple would have their act together, MobileMe has been a letdown since day 1.

Let's see how regular or accurate they are ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yeah, well why did this update break its usability with Google Chrome? This is my only browser!

At least they made that dog slow interface faster (hopefully).
![]() Right now though, I'd just like to be able to use my MobileMe account as my primary forwarded to mail account for personal use. I currently have my mail routed via my gmail because quite a few emails don't get through due to being "over quota". ??? ![]() That said, my contacts and calendar syncing has always worked flawlessly.

Why on earth is Google Chrome not supported?
It is a Webkit browser, it should work right out of the box, but me.com simply shows a blank page. |

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)
I'm glad to see these improvements. I hope that they will add the ability to setup alerts in the calendar app on the website. It is a little annoying to setup an event and then have to go into the iPhone to setup the alert. Overall, I have really enjoyed MobileMe since they have worked out the kinks from the rocky start.

I have to admit, I've been stunned at the simplicity of problems that I've experienced with Mobile Me. Many of these bugs should have been worked out before it was ever released to the public. For example, how hard is it to make the "Keep me logged in for 2 weeks" function work? It took them months to get this one going. Pretty sad.
I'm a huge Apple fan, but the rollout of Mobile Me has been disappointing to say the least. Bryan |

Google Chrome being "based on" webkit means it should work out of the box? Think about that for a second if you understand what webkit even is. Chrome is not safari. Webkit is not safari. Chrome has an entirely different javascript processing engine. And what it is on top of webkit is also different.
Considering how much javascript goes into these web apps there is no surprise that it doesn't work out of the box. |

![]() You should be able to do the same actions be it in the Address Book, MobileMe on the web, and iPhone/touch. We aren't there yet! Quote:
At least Apple is working on making it better. I wonder if the Calendar colors work now? Need to give that a try and see.

But I do agree that it should work with other browsers, even if those browsers are inferior garbage. It only works with the java on Safari and Firefox..... nothing else! There is no way ever machine I might be on will have either or both of them since most people just don't care about their web browsers enough. In this situation, I think Apple should just correct everyone else's mistakes and make MM work with other browers. Quote:
