Resolution problem on external monitor

Just got the Samsung T260HD (1920 x 1200 pixels). I have the Mini Displayport -> DVI Adapter connected to my Aluminum MacBook.

My issue is the picture looks horrible when I connect the monitor to my MacBook. Even just on the internet it looks bad and splotchy, not to mention when I watch movies.

Any suggestions on how to make it clearer?

Change the resolution.

my friend just receved a Macbook and after some time he dicided to keep it. I have a question though, he says that he looked on the web and the macbook will not be able to output HD resolutions on his external HD tv. Is this correct? He has the mini-DVI to DVI cord that connects to the TV.
