Help Setting Up Monitor

Hey guys, Ive been toying with my new LG Flatron 19' monitor for about 45 minutes now and I can not figure out how to set it up so my macbook is closed and i am only using the monitor as a screen. I know the answer is sitting right in front of me but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. So Ive come to you for help, MacRumors!

TL;DR: How do you set up a monitor so your macbook is closed and the screen only appears on the monitor.
 
Lateralus11, You need to also have an external input device, either a keyboard or mouse, even bluetooth will work as long as your macbook is set to "wake up" from bluetooth devices.

So have everything hooked up, close your macbook lid, wake it up with external input device, which will wake it up and use only the external monitor.
