Headphone splitter and the audio out port

I'm tired of swapping my speakers out of the audio port so I can listen to headphones. Will one of those headphone splitter cables work out of the jack and allow me to keep both plugged in at all times?
 
Confirming ADent's post. Yes. I split it out to send one to the TV and one to the external speakers. Works great.
