energy saver help?

iver looked all over . maybe im not looking hard enough. but i cant change the settings for my energy saver. the bar to change the timing should be blue but its unselectable.

can someone please point me in the right direction. or help out?

A bit of an odd question but - Do you have it locked? Try clicking the lock in the lower left corner, if it's locked.
 
sorry i should have said his earlier, buti got this computer from a friend. he had WIN XP on it. when i have to press option at the start up to pic mac. i dont know how to take that off i want to. and for some reason. my user on here is an admin. but i cant change anything. so im think im kind of in a bind.
if i format the hard drive so i have to reinstall everythin like OS X?
because i just got this and ive been with windows my whole life. ive look everywhere and i need the admin username a password to even install something! >:[
