Hi,
in Numbers 09 is there
1) a shortcut key for inserting the current date?
2) is there a way to insert the current time? and maybe even do it via a shortcut key?
Thanx

Yes that is simple, but it's not a shortcut key. :confused:

You can create a shortcut for any menu command that doesn't already have one. Open System Preferences and go to Keyboard (Keyboard & Mouse if you're using a Desktop or an earlier version of 10.5 than 10.5.5), then click Keyboard Shortcuts. Click the + button, then type in Date & Time (make sure you get it exactly like the menu command) and then the keyboard shortcut you'd like to use. Now you can go back and use that keyboard command in Numbers. The great thing? You don't even have to close and reopen Numbers for this to work.

Ok. This is brilliant! I see I can do this for ANY program. What a useful tip.

I have another, related, problem though. It inserts the date correctly (In date formatted rows), but for rows that I have set for just formatting to the current time, it puts in 12:00 am no matter what time it is. Help!

HOUR( NOW() ) # returns 11 at 11:00 AM

MINUTE( NOW() ) # returns 34 at 11:34 AM, not the minutes since midnight

or

TIMEVALUE ( NOW() ) # returns 0.5 at Noontime

It might be daft question. But I've column of cells formatted to display only time. When I click "Insert Date & Time" I get 12:00 as displayed value instead of actual 12:34. Why is it so?

Bug. You should use the "Provide Numbers Feedback" command under the Numbers menu.
