iPod iPod Mini to iPod Nano 4gen

Right after the 4gen Nano's came out I decided it was time to upgrade to the new Nano from my old Mini. I quickly found out after getting my new toy that none of my accessories worked right with the new nano. I have 2 docks and 2 car charger cords and none will charge the new nano. I assume that since none of them work this is supposed to be this way, but why in the world did they change they way they charge, or is this a feature that I haven't found to turn on yet.

I do love the my new Nano, but now I have to buy all new car chargers.
