Black MacBook and Keynote '09

Hi there. I have a friend with a Penryn 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD Black MacBook. Intel X3100 GMA graphics. He's just installed iWork '09 onto his MacBook. Back when he presented (over the miniDVI->VGA adapter, and through to a projector) he could do the presentation in mirrored, and also extended mode. This was in Keynote '08

However, he needed to present yesterday, and for some reason, he couldn't present in extended mode. When put into mirrored, he could present. But he wants to use the presenter display. Anyone know what is up?

In the slideshow pane of the keynote 09 preferences there is a button to select whether to print on the primary or secondary display.

No no... not that... When he's in extended (which he can do) he goes to keynote and presses play, then an error message comes up which tells him he has insufficient graphics, or something like that.
